Alongside a strong technical programme, the opportunity for attendees to network is a priority for PPC 2017. The conference environment will have space provided for informal discussion around the exhibitor areas. Within a short walk from the hotel is the centre of Brighton which has a wide choice of restaurants, bars and public houses to suit all tastes.

In addition the conference will be hosting a number of social events to provide further opportunities for attendees to mix and make new acquaintances.

Sunday 18th June, 6-7pm – Welcome Reception

The conference welcome reception was the first event of the conference. Over drinks and hors d’oeuvres, attendees were able to catch up with old friends and colleagues and get to know the other attendees and exhibitors.

Monday 19th June, 7-8:30pm – IEEE Women in Engineering Reception

On Monday evening, PPC 2017 hosted a IEEE Women in Engineering event. As part of the reception we had a guest speaker, Ms Paria Moghaddar, who presented her talk “Women, Diversity, Integrity and Multidisciplinary Engineering in the Built Environment". The reception was a relaxed social occasion.

Tuesday 20th June, 6:30-8:30pm – Conference Night Out, a trip on the i360

As a break from the conference, we have reserved 3 ‘flights’ on the i360 in Brighton. Situated just across the road from the hotel, the i360 is Brighton’s newest attraction and an engineering marvel in its own right. At registration you will have a choice of ‘flight’ ticket which will be given out on a first come first served basis. The flights are as follows:-

  1. Arrive at i360 for 6:30pm for flight at 7pm

  2. Arrive at i360 for 7pm for flight at 7:30pm, this flight is sponsored by L-3 Applied Technologies

  3. Arrive at i360 for 7:30pm for flight at 8pm

    Please be certain to arrive 30 minutes before your flight in order to pass through security.

Wednesday 21st June, 6:30-9pm – Awards Banquet

The main social event of the conference, the awards banquet, will be held at the Hilton Metropole. Take the opportunity to sit on a table with people you don’t yet know and enjoy the meal and good company. The banquet will also be the venue for the recognition of those who have excelled in the Pulsed Power community, through advancement in the IEEE and presentation of the Marx, Haas and Gunther Student Awards.
